Jeffrey J. The Maine Self-Storage Association hopes to see you at our 2012 Annual Conference on June 14, 15 at Hollywood Casino in Bangor. We’re pleased to bring this to our members at NO COST to the first attendee from each member facility! Additional attendees from member facilities will be $25 each and non-members can attend for $50 – which can be applied toward membership. We’ll be kicking the conference off on Thursday the 14th with an electronic marketing seminar presented by Shannon Kinney from Dream Local Digital. Shannon will be speaking on social media marketing, websites, e-mail marketing, search engine optimization and other methods of reaching prospective tenants electronically. After that, join us for the cocktail reception and get to know your fellow owners / operators and take a minute to speak with some of our vendors. The main event on Friday the 15th will be kicked off by Glenn L. Walton of Lost Art Communication with an interactive presentation on Tenant-Employee Relations and Communication. Jonathan Burbank from the Maine Emergency Management Agency will be speaking about terrorism and criminal uses of self-storage. The day will be closed by our key-note speaker, self-storage attorney Jeff Greenberger, whose presentation will help you Avoid Storage Liability - Protect Your Storage Business. Jeff will specifically address the following issues: - Granting access to the facility and unit for those other than your named occupant.
- Understanding your rights, responsibilities, and duties under the Service Member’s Civil Relief Act.
- The unwritten rules of rent payment.
- Understanding your rental agreement.
