Self Storage Association 2007 marks the 32nd Anniversary of the Self Storage Association (SSA), the only national U.S. not-for-profit (501-c-6) organization serving the industry. The SSA serves 3,000 direct members and more than 3,200 indirect members (members of affiliated state organizations) that own and operate some 20,000 facilities in the United States. SSA is affiliated with 22 U.S. state and regional associations and 13 international self storage associations that represent another 15,000 facilities worldwide.
Owner-operators from all over the world may join the SSA as an International Member and receive a digital edition of the monthly SSA Globe magazine as well as receive other membership benefits (see Join SSA). International members that utilize the services of the SSA come from 19 nations, including Canada, twelve European nations, Australia and Japan.
The SSA regular (corporate) members range from individual facility owner-operators and investors to multiple-facility operations, to industry’s largest publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). Also, the SSA represents hundreds of individual industry members, self storage facility managers and hundreds of vendor firms.
